Well, the first thing I did was to include the following line in
mimedefang-filter (otherwise RBL in SpamAssassin didn't seem to work):

$SALocalTestsOnly = 0;

and in sa-mimedefang.cf I activated all of the RBL tests:

skip_rbl_checks 0

score RCVD_IN_RBL               10
score RCVD_IN_RSS               1
score RCVD_IN_DUL               1
score RCVD_IN_BL_SPAMCOP_NET    4

Everything went fine for a couple of hours.  Then I kept getting the
same error messages you posted earlier.
