[Mimedefang] MD 2.28 problem: Slave 0 stderr: Out of memory!

I'm trying to get MD v2.28 working on an Alpha machine I have.  It's 
running RedHat 7.1, sendmail 8.12.7, and perl v5.6.0.  Here are the 
errors when I send a mail through it:

Jan  8 20:10:23 ds20 mimedefang-multiplexor: Slave 0 stderr: Out of memory!
Jan  8 20:10:23 ds20 mimedefang-multiplexor: Slave 0 ran out of memory 
-- possible DoS attack due to complex MIME?
Jan  8 20:10:23 ds20 mimedefang-multiplexor: Reap: Idle slave 0 (pid 
24986) exited normally with status 1 (SLAVE DIED UNEXPECTEDLY)
Jan  8 20:10:23 ds20 mimedefang[25024]: Error from multiplexor: ERR No 
response from slave
