I believe you can set that time also in srvrsmtp.c

It is set to sleep(1);

Although I figured a doquit; was more appropriate.

Not quite. After the initial two, the rest will come in at one per
second.

I would like to see an option in sendmail where the delay time can
be configured too, so I could set it higher than one second.
