Without bashing spamass-milter, as it seems like a really nice
simple milter for the job, it was really problematic under Solaris.
As someone else mentioned, it crashed and if given free hands, the
threads that spawned spamc could blow up to over 100MB in size.

It seems the problems were Solaris-specific and under Linux it works
well (haven't tried it under Linux myself).

There are few other milters but it depends on your environment
whether they can be used. Some of them didn't seem like good
solutions when mail is forwarded to an internal mail server after
checked for spam and viruses on the gateway.

MIMEDefang is excellent even just for SpamAssassin integration.
