I've never seen that, but I have some weird timing data from SpamAssassin.
It seems like most of the time, SA runs in around 200ms on my machine.
However, it occasionally goes crazy and takes 10-15 seconds, and for the
life of me, I can't see anything special about the messages that take a
very long time.

Are you using SpamAssassin? I have a nasty feeling that some e-mails
trigger bad behaviour in some of its regular expressions. Writing robust
regexps is extremely tricky, and poorly-written ones can exhibit horrible
time and memory behavior.

Not CPU time, but you can log elapsed time by using the "-T" option
with "mimedefang" (mimedefang-multiplexor also has a -T option that
does something a little different.)
