[Mimedefang] Mimedefang 2.31 - startup errors

I am getting the following startup errors on a Solaris 5.7 Server, 
Sendmail 8.12.9, Perl 5.6.1, and MIMEDefang 2.31.  Can someone please 
help me determine what these messages are trying to tell me?

Apr 18 14:46:51 ns1 sendmail[19705]: h3IIkpsC019705: Milter (mimedefang): local
socket name /var/spool/MIMEDefang/mimedefang.sock unsafe
Apr 18 14:46:51 ns1 sendmail[19705]: h3IIkpsC019705: Milter (mimedefang): to error state
Apr 18 14:46:51 ns1 sendmail[19705]: h3IIkpsC019705: Milter: initialization failed, temp failing commands
Apr 18 14:48:14 ns1 sendmail[19764]: h3IImEsC019764: Milter (mimedefang): local
socket name /var/spool/MIMEDefang/mimedefang.sock unsafe
Apr 18 14:48:14 ns1 sendmail[19764]: h3IImEsC019764: Milter (mimedefang): to error state
Apr 18 14:48:14 ns1 sendmail[19764]: h3IImEsC019764: Milter: initialization failed, temp failing commands

When I start the service (or better yet restart it), I then attempt to examine the mimedefang.sock and cannot locate it.
