With all due respect, I suggest that *you* read the HOWTO carefully.
There is no mention of "mimedefang.conf" nor "MX_USER" in it. There is
no mimedefang.conf anywhere on my system after following the installation
instructions. I *have* read the HOWTO, the README, and poked through
the man pages, and am no closer to finding the answers to these
questions.

Changing a config file wouldn't help with the init script issue, anyway,
as it *specifically* says to use the -m and -U options. If you can give
me a URL that has information on how to fix that, I'll eat my hat and
abase myself. If there is no documentation that describes how to fix
this, but you know how, please post, and I'll be eternally grateful.
And hopefully the HOWTO maintainer will pick it up and insert it, *and*
that post will then be archived for the next poor schmoe who can't find
this.

I know these are probably considered really basic, idiotic questions.
If I'm just not seeing information that is there, I do apologize. But I
*have* looked. I'm not running to the list right off the bat.
