    IMO, this is bad:

checking for libmilter/mfapi.h... ../sendmail-8.12.6/include/libmilter/mfapi.h
checking for libmilter.a...
../sendmail-8.12.6/obj.Linux.2.4.18-10.i586/libmilter/libmilter.a

    Just because I happen to have my sendmail source one level up doesn't mean
it should be looking there.  After removing said source and deleting
config.cache, it looking in the right location:

checking for libmilter/mfapi.h... /usr/local/include/sendmail/libmilter/mfapi.h

checking for libmilter.a... /usr/local/lib/libmilter.a
