[Mimedefang] passing args to clamav through md?

Several people - including Rob MacGregor - run both 
amavis (amavisd-snapshot or amavisd-new) and Mimedefang
at the same time with success.
Amavis is less easy to set-up compared to Mimedefang 
but It can be done after reading the relevant README 
and getting the relevant patches.
