I had the same problem with the FreeBSD port - I installed Mimedefang
then wanted to add Sophos support and it wouldn't compile it in. I
simply deleted a file called 'config.cache' in the source directory
which does exactly what is says - caches the results from your
configure. Not sure if that's the 'proper' way to do it but once that
was deleted it picked up Sophos fine.
