Subject: [SA-announce] SpamAssassin 2.42 released
Here it is:
http://spamassassin.org/released/Mail-SpamAssassin-2.42.tar.gz
This is well stable, I should think. I'll announce this one
on freshmeat, and Matt, could you upload it to CPAN?
***IMPORTANT***: if you're upgrading from a version < 2.40, you should not
upgrade blindly, ***YOU WILL LOSE MAIL***. As the INSTALL file sez:
SpamAssassin no longer includes code to handle local mail delivery, as
it was not reliable enough, compared to procmail. So now, if you relied
on spamassassin to write the mail into your mail folder, you'll have to
change your setup to use procmail [...]. If you used spamassassin to
filter your mail and then something else wrote it into a folder for you,
then you should be fine.
Changes since 2.41:
- auto_whitelist_path was not being used by -W and -R: fixed
- bug with AWL whitelisting not noticing per-IP entries, fixed
- added --add-addr-to-whitelist and friends to deal with usability
problems of existing switches.
- AWL was storing post-AWL scores, hence reinforcing itself wrongly: fixed
- added code to allow AWL to 'decay' scores again, since forged-froms are
no longer such a problem
- added procmail-saving block to procmailrc.example
- Problems with spamd "-m" argument fixed on Solaris, IRIX, unixware
and perl 5.7
- Problems with spamd using setlogsock(unix) on some platforms fixed;
added --syslog-socket switch to allow users to override it
- unable to find triplets.txt bug fixed
- fixed libspamc fd leak, fix from Michael Brown
- netbsd spamd script updated to use -H
- razor_report now uses razor_timeout
- Reporter.pm now uses the is_{dcc,pyzor}_available from Dns.pm: Solves
the same "{dccproc, pyzor}: command not found" bug when people use
"spamassassin -r".
- {dcc,pyzor}_report now users {dcc,pyzor}_timeout and the configured
{dcc,pyzor}_path instead of `{dccproc,pyzor}`
- Razor2 reporting now returns a valid return code
- several more bug fixes and doco updates
