Actually, we need to set the maximum stack size with RLIMIT_STACK.
This problem is Linux-specific, so I'll think about a nice way to
fix it on Linux without bothering non-Linux platforms.  Probably a
command-line option to set RLIMIT_STACK is the cleanest solution.
