I had the same problem when I was using Surf Control for SMTP as my mail scanner. Every now and again it would send the same mail every 30 minutes for a random period of time - sometimes a few hours, sometimes a week.
I'm sorry to say that I never solved the question of why it was doing it, but it definitely came from the Surf Control machine as the headers were always exactly the same.
To be honest I really have no way of knowing if the same thing happened with any of our outgoing emails, so although its a long shot could they be running Surf Control at the other end?
I can only assume it was caused by sending the message but not receiving a 'message received signal' back (but that is a guess).

Cheers
Ric
