[Mimedefang] absolutely struggling

Here's what I've done - 

Created the user "spamcatch", with group.
Uncommented the -l option in the sendmail init for MIMEDefang.
Changed the user of MIMEDefang to "spamcatch" within the sendmail init.
Changed the location of the .sock and .pid files in the sendmail 
init to point to /var/spool/MIMEDefang/ for the .sock's and .pid's . 

Sendmail (and MIMEDefang) both start without complaining now.
But, when I test Spamassassin with the 
"spamassassin -t < sample-spam.txt > spam.out" 
test, it doesn't show anything in the logs.

So I read some more...
And I found the part about putting some code in the "filter_begin()" section.

So here's my question - not having a clue of what I'm looking at, 
can someone tell me *where exactly* the string starting with "if" goes?
