[Mimedefang] Almost there -- Newbie Alert!

OK, I have followed Micky Hill's execellent Howto and seem to have
sendmail/milter/MIMEDefang all playing together. Unfortunately, I don't seem
to be able to get SpamAssassin to run (add its header info) on an inbound
e-mail.

The reason I state that sendmail/milter/mimedfang seem to be playing
together are the following entries are generated in /var/log/maillog when I
send e-mail through my test server. Also, the e-mail header is updated.

Jul 31 16:59:15 voyager sm-mta[2350]: g6VLxEUn002350: Milter add: header:
X-Scanned-By: MIMEDefang 2.16 (www . roaringpenguin . com / mimedefang)

Now if I run spamassassin manually (in test mode), spamassassin seems to
work...

[scowles at voyager mail]$ cat /tmp/test.mail | spamassassin -t

BTW: For now, I'm using the mimedefang-filter.example. It's located in
/etc/mail as mimedefang-example.

Questions:

1) Does Mimedefang spawn spamassassin -or- is it the other way around? I'm
confused on this issue.

2) Is there a way to debug MIMEDefang? Kinda like "set -x" in a shell
script. It would be nice if I could trace what MIMEDefang is doing until I
get more familiar with its structure.

3) Are there any mimedefang logfiles?

4) Does the mimedefang example filter support spamassassin. Based on looking
at this file, it looks like there is at least a "sub" for spamassassin.

Sorry for the newbie questions, but I feel like I'm so close to having all
this stuff playing together.

Thanks for any input you can shed on this.

BTW: I'm running the latest versions of MIMEDefang (2.16), Spamassassin
(2.31) and sendmail (8.12.5) on a RH7.3 system.
