[Mimedefang] MIMEDefang installed but not working ;(

Again, thanks to everyone for their patience.  I read up on CVSUP,
synced up my ports, and did a make/install in
\usr\ports\mail\MIMEDefang.  Yeah everything worked!
However I don't think it is working ;(
The install notes seemed to indicate it had placed the MIMEDefang in my
rc files to run as a daemon on boot.  I removed my changes to
rc.sendmail (which I'm not sure is even being run) and rebooted.
I am still getting the 
Jul 11 12:43:36 SpamFreeBSD mimedefang-multiplexor:

in the maillog file.
In the md-stat file all I get is

So here are my questions -
I assume that there should be more information in md-stat?
What steps can I take at this point to track down the problem?

I am very excited to get this up and going since we are being overwelmed
with spam at our work!

Read http://www.freebsddiary.org/portupgrade.php carefully .
I suggest you get familiar with FreeBSD ports, CVSUP and 
portupgrade first. Once your installed packages are upgraded you
will be able to install Mimedefang by just doing some
cd /usr/ports/mail/mimedefang
make
make install
(this command will tell you which options you need to add to 
the freebsd.mc file and which init file gets installed).
