[Mimedefang] Multiplexor Error

I made the same tweak earlier as well - lowered the threshold down to 64KB -
without any noticeable change. More than anything I'm interested in just
having the majority of well known malware removed (klez, et al). The back
end Exchange servers are running Trend virus scanners so we're protected
there in case anything gets through.

I think the message traffic is bursty in nature so there are probably times
when it gets overloaded for short periods of time. Watching vmstat
occasionally shows 0% idle time for periods of up to 15 - 20 secs (at least
while I've been watching it). I'm working on getting the server instrumented
via SNMP so that I can get a better handle on the load averages but in the
mean time, I'll see how the errors are over the next couple of days with
MAX_SERVERS=8.

Thanks again.

That's not very many. What's slow -- the virus scanner or SpamAssassin?
SpamAssassin is very slow on large messages. I lowered the threshold in the
default filter to 100kB from 256kB when deciding to skip spam scanning.
Maybe you should too if you get many large messages.

David.
