I doubt it.  One last (promise!) thing to try:

Please rebuild MIMEDefang like this:

	make distclean
	./configure --enable-debugging
	make
	make install

This will syslog a lot of things at DEBUG level.  Please make sure
you capture those messages.  If the broken pipe happens again, I should
have a much better chance of diagnosing it.
