[Mimedefang] Timeout in data read

After being floaded with SPAM I decided to take measures at the company
server.

I have installed MIMEDefang 2.26 and Sendmail 8.12.6 and everything worked
OK except that in some messages the communication between sendmail and
mimedefang gets blocked till sendmail executes the timeout.

I upgraded to MIMEDefang 2.27 and the problem is exactly the same.

What is curious is that :

    - If sendmail/mimedefang are not processing any message they get stuck
    - If while stuck arrives a new message it is procesed OK and fast.

I rebuilt mimedefang with --enable-debugger and I get the following maillog

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------

We start OK

Dec  4 17:46:05 www mimedefang-multiplexor: started; minSlaves=2,
maxSlaves=10, maxRequests=200, maxIdleTime=300, busyTimeout=300,
clientTimeout=10

Dec  4 17:46:08 www mimedefang-multiplexor: Starting slave 1 (pid 19707) (2
running): Bringing slaves up to minSlaves (2)

We start receiving a message

I don't know to who this corresponds

Dec  4 17:52:02 www mimedefang[19706]: Exiting cleanup (line 1317)
ret=SMFIS_CONTINUE

Sendmail executes timeout of 5 minutes and exits

Dec  4 17:53:08 www sendmail[19728]: gB4Gm4Km019728: Milter (mimedefang):
timeout during data read
Dec  4 17:53:08 www sendmail[19728]: gB4Gm4Km019728: Milter (mimedefang): to
error state

Dec  4 17:53:08 www mimedefang[19706]: Exiting cleanup (line 1317)
ret=SMFIS_CONTINUE

Sendmail finally delivers the message

Dec  4 17:53:09 www sendmail[19762]: gB4Gm4Km019728: to=<paco at gorina.es>,

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------

The problem is independent of the messages, if they are or not considered
SPAM, etc.

Hope someone has some idea

Paco
