Well, I figured it might be better to create 
(entity|message)_contains_virus_filescan functions, so I did.

See attached patch against MIMEDefang 2.6.

"make distclean;cd ..;zcat [patchfile] | patch -p0" followed by the 
usual "./configure;make;make install" dance should work.

I tried to set up the subroutines so that they behave the same way as 
the other virus scanning routines.
